STAFF NEWS!

It's been another busy, eventful, start to the year here at Viney Hill; as we now move towards busy season, we are looking forward to welcoming our groups to the Centre, some returning as old friends, some who have rebooked after first visits last year (welcome back!) and some who are visiting us for the very first time (welcome!).   It is fresh and exciting to once again face new challenges, new adventures, lots of fun, and hard work!

Last year we bid a fond farewell to Hannah Wilmott.   Hannah is continuing in her studies at CYM in Bristol but we are delighted that she is also coming back to the Centre as a freelance instructor much to the delight of staff and the groups that know her!   Old friends of the Centre will also remember that last year we waved goodbye to Steve Bedford as he moved on to pastures new, but you will be excited to hear that Steve has also made himself available to the Centre on a freelance basis and has already been back to work once again with the groups from SUST, much to the delight of all involved!

One big change is that Ali has now moved up to a full time position as Centre Instructor, and has already proved to be totally invaluable in her new role.  You may remember Matt Herron who originally came to us as a volunteer and became totally indispensable, he is still volunteering at the Centre but is now also a freelance instructor.  Geoff Cater who joined us in 2009, is leading activities, helping with maintenance, keeping us on our toes with fire safety, and has shown a hitherto undiscovered talent for catering for staff functions! We recently welcomed on board a new volunteer Liz Becker who came to help on our staff weekend and was so fantastic we managed to convince her to come back!  She is currently helping to keep our grounds beautiful and well tended and may in the future start to train on various activities.

The biggest change in the office is that Julie was enjoying new parenthood so much she decided to make her adoption leave permanent, so Lucy who has been with us for over a year, has agreed to stay permanently, much to the relief of the office where she is now officially indispensable!

We benefit so much from the character, insight and skills brought by our staff members, to the life of the Centre here at Viney Hill.  Although some staff members eventually move on to new experiences, the Centre grows and develops as a result of their input; we know that God will always bring on board whomever we need next to help take the Christian Adventure Centre on into the future, to bring something new, challenging and fulfilling to the lives of the groups that visit us.
