Works Weekend 2010

I think we can be sure that groups visiting the Centre during 2010 will be pleased with the work done during our annual Works Weekend!

Despite the hard winter and the snow we had had previously, most of the staff, neighbours and friends who had volunteered to help, managed to reach the Centre to pick up their paint brushes, rollers, spades and tools to mend, paint and generally improve the appearance of the Centre here at Viney Hill.

Now we are fresh, clean and ready to welcome the first of our groups arriving in 2010! All of us once again kept wonderfully fed and watered by Brian and Sheelagh, it really wouldn't be the same if the weekend was not rounded off with Sheelagh's shepherd's pie on Sunday lunch time!

As a staff team, we are always so grateful to all of you who give up your time and energy to help us provide a great venue for our groups; and as staff we can feel after a weekend like this that we are doing more than just our normal jobs, that we have invested a part of ourselves in the Centre.  We can look around us and think ' I helped paint that' or 'I helped build this' or 'mend that', and with volunteers, friends, family and neighbours also investing their time and energy we realise that our little community here at Viney Hill is much bigger than we realised.

So thanks again to all of you who firstly pray for us, give up your time to volunteer for us, and for all who have given donations.

We hope that all of you who came to the weekend and worked so hard know just how much your help means; not only to us, but also to those children who will visit us this year and will carry the memory of their time here with them for years to come.
