Timber tents.
Work has been continuing enthusiastically in the construction of the Centre's very first timber tent! Shaped like a small A-frame cabin, the timber tent will soon be available for use by groups visiting the Cross Meadows Camping Centre during the summer.
As a Centre we are very excited about this new development in our accommodation, we think it will provide a secure, dry(!) and comfortable alternative to the traditional canvas style tents. It will also cut down on our maintenance costs, and on the time it takes at the moment to put up and take down our canvas tents at the beginning and end of the season.
Each one will cost us £3,000 to construct, and we hope eventually to replace all our existing tents with these new timber tents.
We are often asked how people can help in the work that is done here, and one possibility is for your church/youth/school group to do some fundraising activities to raise money to help towards the cost of one of the timber tents. If your group managed to raise enough to sponsor one whole tent, we would then name the tent after you and place a plaque on it to show that your group's hard work made it possible for us to build it.
If you would be interested in supporting us in this way please contact Tony Williams on 01594 516162.
Thanks for your help!!
